Have you thought about article marketing as a part of your wider digital marketing efforts? We’ve talked before about how digital marketing is all about quality content, and so you’ve probably drafted a whole host of cracking, SEO-friendly content on your site already.
So, why not make this content really pay for you by posting it on a number of free article hosting sites? We’ve already covered Slideshare best practice before, although PowerPoint presentations tend to be more viewed than articles, but there are a whole bunch of websites with – critically – really good Google page rank which can help your content really work for you.
Article Seeding
The best thing about article seeding is that it is free, and I’ve included a list of some of the most popular ones below. The only real investment – as so often in digital marketing – is time. They can be quite time-consuming to set up your account and then you can expect a number of emails going forward which you can mostly ignore.
Top tips
- Make your content interesting and compelling, use subheadings to break the article up so it doesn’t just look like a wall of words
- Vary your copy: There’s a dispute over whether search engines – particularly Google – penalise ‘duplicated copy’ but here’s a chance for you to play around with your keywords to mix it up a little
- Don’t use paid-for sites, if possible
- Some sites won’t let you include URLs in anchor text but will provide a link back to your site
- Keep your copy concise – some won’t accept more than 500 or 800 words
- Keep an eye on your Web analytics to see which sites are generating the most in-bound links for you
