I attended the CyberMummy blogger meet-up this weekend (work-related, not a delegate), where around 400 mummy bloggers spent the
day networking and attending workshops. Activist Sarah Brown was the keynote speaker, which – coupled with the sheer number of attendees – goes to demonstrate the groundswell that mummy bloggers currently enjoy.
As someone on the outside looking in I saw a vibrant community that was clearly passionate about its subject matter. While some may be tempted to think that 400 mummy bloggers (only counting those who attended, there are many, many more out there) may indicate a saturated market with a handful of truly influential bloggers flying the flag, the collective sum of parts creates a very influential pressure group.
Looking at the data, many blog sites receive less traffic than this one, but the writers enjoy a higher Klout score. What this indicates this a group that is actively talking to each other, retweeting each other’s content, commenting and sharing information and one which can be mobilised en masse, regardless of readership, to create an influential pressure group that brands and governments will need to take notice of.
